Gonzaga continues its remarkable streak against San Francisco, securing their 33rd consecutive victory over the third-seeded Dons, who finished the season at 24-9. Previously in the regular season, Saint Mary’s emerged victorious in both clashes against Gonzaga.
San Francisco’s Ryan Beasley had a strong first half, scoring 10 points and sinking a crucial three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer, giving the Dons a narrow 37-35 lead. Gonzaga strives for its 22nd tournament title since 1995, with previous experiences including a split with Portland in 1995 and 1996 championship games. As for the Dons, their last championship game appearance was in 1998, where they triumphed over Gonzaga with an 80-67 victory.
