CHICAGO — During Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls, Josh Giddey had to exit the match in the fourth quarter after an awkward fall on his right ankle. This incident occurred after he previously injured the same ankle during the Olympics while representing Australia.

Following the Bulls’ 121-103 victory over Indiana, head coach Billy Donovan confirmed Giddey sustained a sprained ankle. However, the exact extent of the injury remains uncertain and will likely be determined in a day or two.

Giddey had initially injured the ankle during his Olympic appearances but recovered in time for the beginning of this season with the Bulls after being traded from Oklahoma City in June.

Prior to the injury, Giddey was performing remarkably, achieving a season-best 29 points and 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, midway through the fourth quarter, he appeared to land on an Indiana player’s foot, causing visible pain as he left the court to head to the locker room.

“He experienced a minor roll on it a few games back, but it wasn’t as severe,” explained Donovan. “This time, it was clear from his reaction that it was quite painful. Naturally, I’m worried, but until we know more, I can’t say how serious it is.”

This was Giddey’s eighth double-double in just nine games, highlighting his consistent performance. He was coming off an impressive triple-double on Saturday against Miami, securing 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists.

The victory over Indiana marked the Bulls’ third consecutive win, maintaining their hold on the final play-in position in the Eastern Conference.
