MADISON COUNTY, Miss. — A tragic incident occurred on Monday when a medical transport helicopter went down in Mississippi, leading to the deaths of the pilot and two hospital staff members onboard.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center confirmed that none of the individuals survived the crash. The AirCare helicopter, which unfortunately was not transporting any patients at the time, met its unfortunate end in Madison County, located to the north of Jackson, the state’s capital.

While the university has reached out to the families of the victims, their identities have not been disclosed to respect their privacy. The cause of the helicopter crash remains uncertain as of now.

Reports from local television suggest that the Federal Aviation Administration is on its way to the site to conduct an investigation.

Governor Tate Reeves expressed his condolences and highlighted the inherent risks associated with the jobs of first responders in Mississippi. He stated on social media, “It’s a tragic reminder of the risks Mississippi’s first responders take every day to keep us safe. Our state will never forget the sacrifice of these heroes.”
