NEW YORK — On Sunday, the NBA imposed a $25,000 fine on Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam due to his conduct and inappropriate language directed at game officials.
The NBA’s head of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, disclosed the penalty on Sunday evening, following Siakam’s actions in the game on Saturday where Indiana narrowly lost to Atlanta, 120-118.
The incident unfolded when Siakam approached the officials after the game’s conclusion. At the critical point in the match, with the Pacers behind 119-116 and requiring a 3-pointer to push the game into overtime, Siakam instead opted for a dunk when only a second remained on the clock, resulting in the team’s defeat. Reflecting on his decision post-game, Siakam admitted it was an error and termed it a foolish move.
“We got to get a 3 off at that point, so probably my bad,” Siakam confessed.
As it stands, Indiana holds the fifth position in the Eastern Conference rankings.
