    DAVIS, Calif. — In an impressive regular-season finale, UC San Diego beat UC Davis with a score of 68-57 on Saturday night. Tyler McGhie was instrumental in the victory, scoring 18 points for the Tritons.
    San Diego, showing remarkable strength with a record of 28-4 overall and 18-2 in the Big West Conference, has now secured its first regular-season conference title since advancing to Division I in 2020. This momentum carries them into the postseason, having claimed the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament in Henderson, Nevada. The Tritons will begin their tournament play in the semifinals on Friday.
    Meanwhile, UC Davis, seeded sixth, prepares to take on No. 7 seed Cal Poly in the first round on Wednesday.
    McGhie demonstrated efficient shooting by going 5 for 15, including an impressive 5 for 10 from beyond the arc, and successfully converting all three of his free-throw attempts for UC San Diego. Nordin Kapic contributed significantly with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones added 15 points by shooting 3 of 7 and making 9 of 12 free throws.
    On the UC Davis side, the Aggies, now 15-16 overall with a conference record of 9-11, saw Leo DeBruhl lead in scoring with 19 points, along with six assists and two steals. Pablo Tamba also had a strong performance with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Nils Cooper supported with nine points, 13 rebounds, and two steals, as the Aggies face a challenging six-game losing streak.
    The triumph for UC San Diego not only marks an end to the regular season on a high note but also signifies a milestone achievement as the team continues its journey in Division I basketball.
