SAN JOSE, Calif. — Kelvin Yeboah found the back of the net for the second game in a row, and goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair made a pair of key saves, securing a 1-0 victory for Minnesota United over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.

The decisive moment for Minnesota came in the 38th minute when Yeboah skillfully back-heeled a volley to score. The play unfolded as Tani Oluwaseyi soared above two defenders along the end line to direct a header towards the right edge of the area. Michael Boxall swiftly set up Yeboah with a side-foot pass, allowing him to score near the penalty spot.

St. Clair showcased his reliability once again, successfully defending against seven of the eight shots he has encountered this season while earning consecutive clean sheets for Minnesota, who now stand at 2-1-0 for the season.

Despite controlling 68% of ball possession and accumulating a total of 15 shots, San Jose (2-1-0) was unable to break through Minnesota’s defenses. The Earthquakes managed only three shots on target, compared to Minnesota’s six.

San Jose entered the match with an impressive record, having decisively defeated Real Salt Lake 4-0 at home in their opener and securing a 2-1 victory on the road against Sporting Kansas City the previous week. They led the league with a plus-five goal margin, a figure tied with the best in Major League Soccer.
