LONG BEACH, Calif. — A standout performance from Jarred Hyder, who scored 25 points, propelled Cal Poly to an 83-69 victory over Long Beach State on Saturday.
Alongside Hyder’s contributions, the Mustangs (14-18, 8-12 Big West Conference) saw Owen Koonce net 20 points by shooting 8 of 14 from the field and 4 of 8 from beyond the arc. Isaac Jessup also added to the victory with 15 points, going 5 of 15 from the field and connecting on 5 of 13 three-pointers.
Long Beach State (7-25, 3-17) suffered another setback with their 15th consecutive defeat. Despite the loss, Devin Askew led his team with 21 points. Teammate TJ Wainwright contributed 17 points, while Derrick Michael Xzavierro added 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and four blocks to the effort.
