ASHEVILLE, N.C. — An impressive double-double by Rickey Bradley Jr., who tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds, led No. 7 seed VMI to a 64-57 victory over second-seeded UNC Greensboro on Saturday during the Southern Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
The Keydets (15-18) now advance to a semifinal game scheduled for Sunday, where they will face off against the winner of the East Tennessee State and Wofford matchup.
In addition to Bradley’s standout performance, the Keydets benefited from Augustinas Kiudulas, who added 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Tan Yildizoglu also contributed with 11 points.
The Spartans (20-12) saw Ronald Polite lead their efforts with 18 points, while Demetrius Davis contributed 15 points. Malik Henry further supported the team with nine points and two blocks.
VMI secured the advantage early, taking the lead just over four minutes into the game with 16:21 remaining in the first half and never looked back. Keydets’ player Kiudulas was instrumental in the first half, scoring 12 points, which helped the team to a 28-19 lead at halftime. Bradley then took charge in the second half, contributing 17 points in the game’s latter stages.
