IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference has announced a schedule adjustment that will see six of its football games played on Friday nights during the fall of next year. Additionally, the conference has scheduled a matchup that involves league teams but will not impact the Big 12 standings.

The conference’s decision follows the selection made by its TV partners, ESPN and Fox, which chose a total of 10 games featuring Big 12 teams to be broadcast on Friday evenings. On three Fridays, fans can look forward to two games airing.

The upcoming football season will kick off with an interesting lineup. On August 29th, Baylor will face off against Auburn from the SEC, while Colorado takes on Georgia Tech from the ACC. Fast forward to the day after Thanksgiving, November 28th, spectators can witness the rivalry between Arizona and Arizona State, and Utah visiting Kansas.

The schedule will see more action on September 12th, when Colorado travels to play against Houston, simultaneously with Kansas State visiting Arizona. It is important to note that the Kansas State versus Arizona game will not be counted in the Big 12 standings. This particular matchup stems from a pre-existing agreement made between the two teams before the league expanded to 16 teams the previous year.

In addition to these, four other Friday night games have also been lined up: Tulsa will go head-to-head with Oklahoma State on September 19th, TCU will visit Arizona State on September 26th, West Virginia will face BYU on October 3rd, and finally, Houston will play at UCF on November 7th.
