EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Carlous Williams shone bright with 15 points, steering Tennessee State to a 69-55 triumph over Lindenwood on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
In addition to his scoring, Williams also contributed significantly in defense, recording three blocks for the Tigers, who now stand at 17-15. Aaron Nkrumah played a key supporting role, adding 14 points and securing seven rebounds, while Travis Harper II added nine points to the scoreboard.
On the other side, the Lions, holding a season record of 16-17, were spearheaded by Anias Futrell who notched 12 points, four steals, and two blocks. Jadis Jones chipped in with 10 points, and Reggie Bass contributed nine.
Tennessee State seized control of the game with 10:36 left in the first half and maintained their advantage throughout. Williams paced the Tigers with nine points in the initial half, leading them to a 31-24 advantage going into halftime. The team widened their lead with a decisive 7-0 spurt in the second half, solidifying a comfortable margin. Justus Jackson emerged as a key player during the latter half, posting a team-leading seven points.
