Lipscomb tops Queens 81-75 in ASUN semifinal thriller

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lipscomb emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Queens University, overcoming them with a score of 81-75 in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday night. Joe Anderson played a pivotal role, scoring seven of his total 25 points during overtime. Lipscomb, the top seed, will now confront the second-seeded North Alabama in the conference tournament final on Sunday. Both teams shared the regular season championship, setting the stage for an exciting clash.

    Joe Anderson showcased his defensive prowess alongside his scoring ability by contributing five steals for the Bisons, who now hold a 24-9 record. Jacob Ognacevic added to the team’s success by scoring 21 points and securing 12 rebounds. Charlie Williams delivered a perfect shooting performance, making four of four field goals and converting all six of his free throw attempts, bringing his total to 16 points.

    Queens University, which finished the game with a 19-14 record, saw Jaxon Pollard leading their scoring efforts with 17 points. Leo Colimerio was also significant in their offense, adding 13 points and seven rebounds, while Yoav Berman matched his 13-point contribution.

    Ognacevic played a crucial role in keeping Lipscomb’s hopes alive with substantial efforts in the second half, tallying 11 points and hitting a game-tying layup with just 25 seconds remaining in regulation, which ultimately led the game into overtime. Anderson then executed efficiently in the overtime period, shooting perfectly from the field and nearly perfect from the charity stripe to contribute seven decisive points.
