Horton Leads Coppin to OT Victory Over Morgan State

    BALTIMORE — An impressive performance by Khali Horton propelled Coppin State to an 82-75 win over Morgan State in overtime on Thursday night during the conclusion of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season.

    Horton’s crucial three free throws with just 16 seconds remaining in regulation brought the teams to a 69-69 tie, sending the game into overtime. Once in the extra period, Horton and team member Derrius Ward began with successful 3-pointers, establishing a momentum that Coppin State used to maintain their lead.

    Horton delivered an outstanding shooting performance, hitting 7 of 12 shots from the field, with a remarkable 6 of 10 from beyond the arc, and maintained a perfect 8 for 8 at the free-throw line. He led the Eagles – who now stand at a season record of 6-23 overall and 4-10 in conference play – with his 28 points. Derrius Ward supported the effort with 15 points and five rebounds, while Peter Oduro added nine points, shooting 4 of 7 from the field.

    On the opposing side, Kameron Hobbs was the standout for Morgan State, scoring 23 points. Additionally, Daniel Akitoby contributed significantly to the Bears – now at a 13-17 overall, 7-7 conference record – with a double-double of 15 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocked shots.
