Navy Defeats Boston Univ. 86-78 in Patriot League Quarters

    BOSTON — Austin Benigni’s impressive performance lifted Navy to a significant 86-78 victory over Boston University in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament on Thursday night. Benigni, orchestrating the offense for the Midshipmen, scored a game-high 30 points and dished out six assists, showcasing his playmaking abilities.

    Donovan Draper contributed significantly to Navy’s efforts with 16 points and seven rebounds, providing strength on both ends of the court. Aidan Kehoe also played a vital role, adding 14 points and pulling down nine rebounds to ensure the Midshipmen’s win.

    Boston University’s Terriers put up a tough fight, largely led by Miles Brewster, who scored 19 points. Kyrone Alexander further supported the team with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Ben Defty managed to score 12 points.

    Navy took control of the game early, securing the lead at the 14:48 mark in the first half and maintaining it throughout the game. Draper’s early performance, highlighted by his nine first-half points, helped Navy establish a 32-26 advantage going into halftime. Benigni’s explosive 24-point effort in the second half solidified Navy’s victory by an eight-point margin.
