INDIANAPOLIS — Xavier University clinched a commanding 91-78 victory over Butler on Wednesday, thanks to standout performances by Zach Freemantle and his teammates.
Freemantle was a key player for the Musketeers, scoring 24 points and grabbing eight rebounds. This performance helped elevate Xavier to a 20-10 overall record and a 12-7 tally in the Big East Conference. Ryan Conwell contributed significantly, hitting 6 out of 12 shots, including an impressive 5 out of 8 from the three-point line, and making all his free throws for a total of 21 points. Additionally, Dailyn Swain played a vital role with 16 points, shooting 6 of 11 from the field while maintaining a perfect record from the charity stripe. The victory marks Xavier’s sixth consecutive win.
On the other side, Butler’s Jahmyl Telfort was the lead scorer for the Bulldogs, posting 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Finley Bizjack added 19 points, while Pierre Brooks chipped in with 15 points.
Xavier managed to seize control of the game early in the first half, taking the lead at 13:09 and maintaining their advantage throughout. At halftime, Xavier led 44-40, with Conwell having already accumulated 14 points. In the second half, Freemantle tallied another 16 points to ensure the Musketeers maintained their lead, eventually outscoring Butler by nine points during the final half.

Both teams are set to conclude their regular seasons this Saturday. Xavier will host Providence, while Butler is scheduled to travel and face Creighton.
