POCATELLO, Idaho — In a thrilling finale to their regular season in the Big Sky Conference, Northern Arizona secured an 82-79 victory over Idaho State on Monday night. Carson Towt led the Lumberjacks with an impressive performance, racking up 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The win places Northern Arizona, now with a season record of 17-14 and a conference record of 8-10, in seventh place. They are set to face No. 8 Eastern Washington in the first round of the conference tournament, which will take place on Saturday in Boise, Idaho. Meanwhile, Idaho State finished fourth and will skip the first round with a bye, eagerly awaiting their quarterfinal matchup against No. 5-seed Montana State set for March 10.
Aside from Towt’s commanding display, Trenton McLaughlin contributed significantly, scoring 21 points and providing five assists. Jayden Jackson rounded out a balanced Lumberjack attack with 17 points.
Idaho State, now 15-14 overall and 10-8 in conference play, rallied strongly behind Dylan Darling, who reached a career-high of 34 points while also adding six assists to his name. Jake O’Neil made his mark with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Isaiah Griffin chipped in with nine points.
