EDINBURG, Texas — In a thrilling contest, Cliff Davis delivered an impressive performance to lead UT Rio Grande Valley to a narrow 77-76 victory against SE Louisiana on Monday. Davis accumulated 20 points, giving the Vaqueros a crucial edge.
The game took a dramatic turn in its final moments when Howard Fleming Jr. hit a jumper with just seven seconds on the clock, sealing the win for the Vaqueros. Fleming contributed significantly with 18 points, going 7 for 13 in field goals, including 3 of 6 from the three-point line, and grabbed seven rebounds to boost his team’s efforts.
Davis showcased his shooting prowess by going 7 for 14 from the field, including an impressive 6 for 11 from beyond the three-point line. Adding another layer of offense, Dekedran Thorn scored 17 points for the Vaqueros, hitting 6 of 12 shots, with 3 successful three-pointers out of 9 attempts.
On the other side, SE Louisiana’s Jakevion Buckley led the scoring for the Lions with 19 points. He also contributed seven assists and achieved three steals, making a significant impact on the game.
