In Daytona Beach, Florida, a standout performance by Trey Thomas propelled Bethune-Cookman to a 78-71 victory over Grambling on Monday. Thomas led the Wildcats with a remarkable score of 27 points, hitting 9 of 13 shots, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, and successfully converting 5 of 7 from the free-throw line. Daniel Rouzan also contributed significantly to the win, scoring 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting and 5 of 6 from the free-throw line, while also grabbing six rebounds. Adding to the team’s effort, Jesus Carralero chipped in with 10 points.
On the flip side, Grambling’s James Flippin showcased an impressive performance himself, tallying 24 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks for the Tigers. Kintavious Dozier added to Grambling’s score with 18 points, while PJ Edwards contributed nine points and managed two steals.
Looking ahead, Bethune-Cookman currently sits in third place in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and is gearing up to face Florida A&M at home on Saturday.
