FAIRFIELD, Conn. — In an impressive display, Bryce Johnson scored 18 points to lead Sacred Heart to a commanding 83-62 victory over Fairfield on Sunday.
Johnson contributed significantly, adding nine rebounds to his performance, which helped the Pioneers improve their record to 14-15 overall and 10-8 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Griffin Barrouk provided strong support with 17 points, efficiently shooting 6 of 10 overall and hitting 5 of 8 from three-point territory, while Nyle Ralph-Beyer chipped in with 16 points.
Fairfield’s side, known as the Stags, put up a determined effort but ultimately fell short. Prophet Johnson stood out with an impressive 24 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals. The team also saw contributions from Peyton Smith, who added 12 points and two blocks, along with Braden Sparks, who also scored 12 points.
Looking ahead, both teams are slated for a quick turnaround, each playing again on Thursday. Sacred Heart is set to face off against Manhattan, while Fairfield will travel to take on Siena.
For the upcoming conference tournament, Sacred Heart is in contention for fourth place, whereas Fairfield has the potential to climb as high as eighth. The tournament is scheduled to commence on March 11.
