TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — In a commanding performance, Samage Teel propelled Indiana State to a decisive victory over Southern Illinois, sealing a 95-77 win on Sunday. Teel contributed significantly to the Sycamores’ success by scoring 20 points and assisting six times, helping the team improve their record to 14-17 overall and 8-12 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Equally impressive on the court, Aaron Gray scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Camp Wagner had an outstanding game from beyond the arc, hitting 6 out of 10 three-point shots to finish with 18 points.
For the Salukis, who now stand at 13-18 and 8-12 in the conference, Kennard Davis emerged as the leading scorer with 19 points. Teammates Drew Steffe and Davion Sykes each added 12 points, with Sykes also managing two steals.
Indiana State set the pace early, claiming the lead shortly after the start, just 53 seconds into the game. By halftime, Jaden Daughtry had already contributed 11 points to the Sycamores’ efforts, helping to establish a substantial 52-31 lead by the break. Although Southern Illinois outperformed Indiana State by three points in the second half, the Sycamores maintained their lead, buoyed by Teel’s 10 second-half points.
With this result, both teams concluded the regular season in a three-way tie for eighth place within the conference. Looking ahead, “Arch Madness,” the conference tournament, is set to kick off on Thursday.
