SAN DIEGO – In an intense basketball showdown, Kody Clouet delivered a stellar performance by scoring 35 points, while Tony Duckett secured the decisive layup with just 33 seconds on the clock, leading San Diego to a thrilling 82-80 victory over Portland on Saturday night.
Clouet also contributed defensively with three steals for the Toreros, who improved their record to 5-26 overall and 2-16 within the West Coast Conference. Supporting him, Steven Jamerson II added 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Tony Duckett, despite struggling from the three-point line, managed to score 10 points with a 5-for-11 shooting performance. This victory ended San Diego’s daunting 16-game losing streak.
On the opposing side, the Pilots, who now stand at 12-19 overall and 7-11 in the conference, were led by Austin Rapp. Rapp achieved a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, complemented by five assists and two blocks. Bol Dengdit matched Rapp with 18 points of his own, while Vukasin Masic contributed 15 points and four assists to Portland’s efforts.
Clouet was especially instrumental in the second half, leading the team with 18 points during that period. San Diego managed to outscore Portland by seven points in the concluding half, ensuring their triumph and breaking their losing streak.
