SAN DIEGO – On a high-scoring night, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones powered UC San Diego to a dominant 100-55 victory over Cal State Fullerton. Tait-Jones was pivotal for the Tritons, notching 21 points, in addition to securing five rebounds and making three steals.
The win marks the Tritons’ 26th of the season, and they currently hold an impressive 16-2 record in the Big West Conference. Contributing alongside Tait-Jones, Tyler McGhie landed 13 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Justin Rochelin was effective from three-point range, sinking 3 of 5 shots and totaling 11 points. This victory extends UC San Diego’s winning streak to 11 games.
Cal State Fullerton, enduring a challenging season, saw Antwan Robinson lead their scoring efforts with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kobe Young also contributed 11 points for the Titans. Donovan Oday finished with 10 points, collected six rebounds, and made two steals. Unfortunately for the Titans, this defeat adds to their string of losses, marking their 10th consecutive loss.
Currently, UC San Diego tops the Big West Conference standings, maintaining a slender lead over UC Irvine with only two games left in their regular season schedule. The Tritons and the Anteaters previously clashed twice during the season, with each team winning once on the other’s home court.
As the season draws nearer to its conclusion, both teams are set to hit the court again on Thursday. UC San Diego is scheduled to host Long Beach State, while Cal State Fullerton will head out to face Cal Poly.
