LORMAN, Miss. — In a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup, Alcorn State emerged victorious against Prairie View A&M with a decisive 71-55 win on Saturday. Leading the charge for the Braves, Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt and Marcus Tankersley each contributed 15 points to the scoreboard.
Gaines-Wyatt was pivotal in other areas as well, securing five rebounds and handing out six assists. The effort was complemented by Mike Pajeaud, who chipped in with an additional 13 points.
On the opposing side, the Panthers, who have had a challenging season, were led by Braelon Bush. Bush stood out with his performance, scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Zaakir Sawyer also made a notable contribution with 12 points, while Marcel Bryant added 11 points, accompanied by seven rebounds and four assists. Jordan Tillmon matched Bryant with 11 points of his own.
Looking ahead, both teams are back in action on Monday. Alcorn State is set to host Texas Southern, aiming to continue their momentum, while Prairie View A&M will be on the road to face Jackson State.
