Orlando, Florida – In an exciting match, Orlando City emerged victorious over Toronto FC with a 3-1 win on Saturday night. The star of the game, César Araújo, contributed significantly to the win by scoring a goal and providing an assist.

The action began in the 33rd minute when Araújo, a 23-year-old midfielder, showcased his skills with a free kick that ricocheted off the post and found the back of the net, leaving Toronto’s keeper Sean Johnson unable to respond. This initial goal set the tone for the match and put Orlando City in the lead.

Shortly thereafter, Alex Freeman, a 20-year-old making his first career start, doubled Orlando City’s lead. Freeman found himself in a prime position after a long pass from defender Kyle Smith. Demonstrating exceptional control and composure, Freeman maneuvered past the defenses and fired a low shot from within the box, putting Orlando City up 2-0 by the 35th minute.

The momentum continued after halftime when Martín Ojeda further extended the lead for Orlando in the 63rd minute. Araújo threaded a through ball to Ojeda, who expertly bypassed an advancing Sean Johnson, allowing him to place the ball into an open net, making the score 3-0.

Toronto FC made an attempt to get back into the game when Sigurd Rosted, a 30-year-old defender, scored his first career goal in the 72nd minute, narrowing the goal deficit to 3-1. Despite their efforts, it was too little, too late for Toronto as Orlando City secured their first win of the season with the match ending 3-1.

From the Toronto side, Norwegian international Ola Brynhildsen debuted for the team, while a former Orlando player, Richie Laryea, had to exit the game early in the 22nd minute due to an injury.

Orlando had some notable absentees in Robin Jansson, Favian Loyla, and Duncan McGuire due to injuries. Pre-game announcements revealed that Jansson, sidelined with a thigh problem, is expected to face a three-week recovery period.

Historically, Orlando City holds an edge over Toronto FC in their total regular-season encounters with a record of 10-9-3. Especially at home, Orlando leads with six wins compared to Toronto’s five. Last season, both teams had split wins, each losing their home game.
