HOUSTON — Sacramento Kings player Domantas Sabonis exited the game against the Houston Rockets early on Saturday night due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred just over a minute into the game when Sabonis suddenly stopped while sprinting down the court and clutched at his left hamstring. Interim coach Doug Christie promptly called for a timeout, after which Sabonis was helped off the court and taken to the locker room. The team later confirmed that Sabonis would not be returning to the game due to the injury.
Christie provided limited information post-game regarding the injury’s severity. “We’ll see in the coming days,” he mentioned. “Probably tomorrow or the next day, we’ll have a better idea.” Prior to this incident, Sabonis had been performing remarkably, maintaining an average of 19.9 points, 14.4 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
Despite his absence, the Kings displayed a commendable team effort, securing a 113-103 victory with six players achieving at least 12 points each. Christie praised the team for their collective resilience, saying, “We’re referencing Domantas Sabonis, who fills the stat sheet in an extraordinary way. The guys who stepped in focused on executing their roles without overextending, contributing to a unified team effort.”
The team is hopeful for Sabonis’s swift recovery and awaits further updates on the injury.
