NEW YORK — Devin Haid scored 15 points as Central Connecticut toppled Wagner with a 55-48 victory on Saturday night. The Blue Devils improved their impressive record to 23-6 overall and 14-2 within the Northeast Conference.

Haid was accurate on 5 of 9 shots from the field, including going 2 for 4 from beyond the arc and 3 for 4 on free throws. His performance was matched by Jordan Jones, who also contributed 15 points by making 5 of 9 shots, with a 1 for 3 showing from the three-point line and maintaining a perfect 4 of 4 on free throws. Darin Smith Jr. also aided the scoring with 12 points, delivering 3 of 5 from the field and hitting 5 of 6 on free throws. This victory extends Central Connecticut’s remarkable winning streak to 12 games.

On the other side, Zae Blake led the Wagner Seahawks, scoring 17 points in the contest. Churchhill Bounds also made a significant impact with 13 points and also recorded three blocks. Despite a hard-fought game, the Seahawks fell short and now hold a 14-15 season record and 6-10 in conference play.

Central Connecticut clinched their fourth outright regular-season Northeast Conference championship earlier this week, following a tie for first place last season. As the top seed, they are set to enter the conference tournament, which kicks off on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Wagner, the 2014 champions, ended up in seventh place this season.
