CHARLESTON, Ill. — Nakyel Shelton delivered an outstanding performance by scoring 28 points, guiding Eastern Illinois to a decisive 73-58 victory against Southeast Missouri State, the Ohio Valley Conference champions, in their season finale. This victory marked the end of the Redhawks’ impressive 10-game winning streak.
Shelton also contributed significantly on the defensive end by recording three blocks for the Panthers, who concluded their season with a 12-19 overall record and an 8-12 mark in conference play. Artese Stapleton was also instrumental for Eastern Illinois, contributing 22 points, along with five rebounds and six steals. Additionally, Malik Olafioye scored seven points, finishing 2 of 4 from the field.
For Southeast Missouri State, which now has a 20-11 overall record and a 15-5 conference record, Rob Martin led the scoring efforts with 18 points and added five assists. Braxton Stacker supported the effort by scoring 12 points, with Tedrick Washington Jr. adding another nine points.
