OMAHA, Neb. — In an impressive showing, Tony Osburn scored 22 points to lead the Omaha Mavericks to a decisive 80-57 victory over the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Saturday. This victory secured Omaha the Summit League regular season championship and the top seed going into the conference tournament.
Osburn’s performance was bolstered by six rebounds. Teammate Marquel Sutton significantly contributed to the Mavericks’ success with 20 points, shooting 7 of 16 from the floor and a commendable 6 of 7 from the free-throw line. Additionally, Sutton delivered nine rebounds and three steals. JJ White added to the team’s tally with 18 points, making 7 of 12 field goals, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc and provided six assists.
On the other side of the court, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles faced a tough night. Jalen Miller led the team with 13 points and four assists. Darius Robinson Jr. added 11 points to Oral Roberts’ score, while JoJo Moore contributed seven points.
This win positions the Mavericks well for the upcoming conference tournament, as they will enter as the top seed. In contrast, the Golden Eagles will be competing as the ninth seed, looking to regroup and make a stronger impression in the tournament.
