LOWELL, Mass. — In a commanding performance on Saturday, Max Brooks led UMass-Lowell to a solid 79-53 win against Binghamton, racking up 22 points for the River Hawks.
Brooks was a standout contributor to his team’s success, also securing five rebounds and making three steals, highlighting his versatility on the court. UMass-Lowell’s record improved to 17-13 overall and 6-9 in America East Conference play.
Another key player for the River Hawks was Quinton Mincey, who contributed significantly to the victory with 20 points. Mincey was accurate in his shooting, going 8 out of 12 overall and 3 for 5 from three-point range, while also pulling down seven rebounds.
Martin Somerville added depth to UMass-Lowell’s offense, recording 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting, with three of those baskets coming from beyond the arc. His performance also included an impressive nine assists, showcasing his playmaking abilities.
On the other side, the Binghamton Bearcats, now standing at 15-15 and 7-8 in conference play, found leadership in Tymu Chenery and Evan Ashe, both of whom scored 11 points. Ashe also contributed defensively with two steals. Meanwhile, Ben Callahan-Gold chipped in with 10 points for the Bearcats in an effort to keep the game competitive.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to play again on Tuesday. UMass-Lowell will face off against Maine in a road game, while Binghamton is scheduled to play NJIT at home.
