MOBILE, Ala. — Elijah Ormiston delivered a standout performance by scoring 28 points to lead South Alabama to a decisive 65-42 victory over Louisiana on Friday. This win propelled the Jaguars into a four-way tie for the Sun Belt Conference championship alongside Arkansas State, Troy, and James Madison.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Ormiston pulled down 10 rebounds, contributing significantly to the Jaguars’ overall performance (21-10, 13-5 Sun Belt Conference). Barry Dunning Jr. made a notable impact as well, scoring 15 points with an efficient 6-for-11 shooting, including two successful three-pointers out of six attempts. He also added six rebounds and five steals to his impressive stat line. Myles Corey, although not as accurate from the field, managed to score eight points by making all four of his free-throw attempts, despite struggling with his shooting, hitting only 2 of 9 shots and missing all four of his three-point attempts.
On the opposing side, Kentrell Garnett was the leading scorer for the Ragin’ Cajuns (11-20, 8-10), closing the game with nine points. Brandon Hardy also contributed by adding nine points and two steals for Louisiana, while Michael Thomas matched his teammates with nine points as well.
