ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The highly anticipated Florida Man Games are making a return for their second round, drawing participants from across the state eager to claim the title of the world’s worst superhero.

Following the success of the inaugural event in downtown St. Augustine last year, organizers have opted to move this year’s festivities to the St. Johns County Fairgrounds. This change aims to accommodate a greater number of spectators and encourage tailgating, providing a more enjoyable atmosphere for attendees.

The games kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will continue throughout the day. Florida comedians Josh Wicks Robinson and Kevin Flynn are set to host the festivities, ensuring plenty of laughs and entertainment for everyone involved.

Building on the humorous nature of Florida’s notorious reputation for odd headlines, last year’s competition featured events such as the Evading Arrest Obstacle Course and Beer Belly Sumo Wrestling. This year, organizers have spiced things up with new events like Hurricane Party Prep: Grocery Aisle Brawl and Human Beer Pong.

Ten teams from various parts of Florida, ranging from Fort Myers to Pensacola, are set to compete. The previous year’s champions, a team named Hanky Spanky from St. Augustine, are returning to defend their coveted snakeskin championship belt. Joining the competition this year is an all-female team known as the Ball Busters.
In addition to witnessing the wacky competitions, visitors will have the opportunity to experience Florida Man antics firsthand. Attendees can engage with alligators from Gatorland and test their skills on a mechanical alligator. The event will also feature performances by “Midget Wrestling Warriors” and lawnmower racing, hosted by NASCAR driver Jeffrey Earnhardt.
The “Florida Man” craze has captivated public interest, primarily due to an infamous Twitter account that launched in 2013 under the handle @_FloridaMan. The account famously chronicled “real-life stories of the world’s worst superhero,” sharing outlandish headlines such as “Florida Man Bites Dog to ‘Establish Dominance’” and “Florida Man Tried to Pay for McDonald’s With Weed.”
