HAMDEN, Conn. — In a thrilling game on Friday, Amarri Monroe led Quinnipiac to a 69-64 victory over Saint Peter’s, contributing an impressive 19 points to the Bobcats’ total score. This win was pivotal as the Bobcats aimed to secure their position at the top of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings.
Entering the game, Quinnipiac was tied with Marist for first place in the conference. However, following Marist’s unexpected loss to Sacred Heart, the Bobcats gained a crucial one-game lead with just three games remaining in their regular season schedule.
Monroe’s performance was complemented by his 11 rebounds, bolstering Quinnipiac’s overall defense and offensive efforts. Paul Otieno also made a significant impact by adding 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks to the team’s defense, while Savion Lewis displayed efficient shooting accuracy, scoring 15 points with a 7 of 10 shooting record from the field.
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks, who now hold a record of 10-15 and 5-12 in the conference, put up a strong effort. Armoni Zeigler led Saint Peter’s with 13 points, contributing seven rebounds and two steals to his team’s efforts. Marcus Randolph added a valuable 13 points, and Mouhamed Sow chipped in nine points.
