COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Swimming has announced that Chrissi Rawak, who was recently chosen to head the organization as CEO and president, will not be taking up the position due to unforeseen personal circumstances that came to light late in the week. The decision was revealed just nine days after Rawak’s appointment.
The governing body has confirmed that Shana Ferguson will continue to serve as the interim CEO. Although the news was unexpected, USA Swimming has expressed unwavering confidence in the resilience and capability of its leadership team, staff, and strategic vision moving forward.
Rawak was poised to succeed Tim Hinchey, who vacated the CEO position following the Paris Games last year. Her track record includes being recognized as the Athletic Director of the Year in 2024, owing to her successful oversight of a $38 million campaign aimed at enhancing athletic department facilities.
Prior to her tenure at Delaware, Rawak was an esteemed member of the Michigan athletic department, where she held an executive role. Her connection to swimming is also notable as she was part of the Michigan swimming and diving team and later contributed as an assistant coach from 1992 to 1997.
