HAMDEN, Conn. — In an intense matchup on Friday, Quinnipiac emerged victorious over Saint Peter’s with a final score of 69-64, thanks in part to a notable performance by Amarri Monroe, who contributed 19 points.
As the night began, Quinnipiac was tied for the top spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference alongside Marist. However, Marist experienced an unexpected setback at the hands of Sacred Heart. This development has given Quinnipiac a one-game advantage with three games remaining in their regular season.
Monroe’s impact on the game extended beyond scoring as he also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Bobcats, bringing their season record to 18-10 overall and 14-3 in conference play. Paul Otieno made significant contributions as well, scoring 15 points while collecting 12 rebounds and blocking four shots. Additionally, Savion Lewis demonstrated impressive shooting skills, going 7 of 10 from the field to net 15 points.
Saint Peter’s, which now sits at 10-15 overall and 5-12 in conference action, was led by Armoni Zeigler, who amassed 13 points, accompanied by seven rebounds and two steals. Marcus Randolph also chipped in with 13 points, while Mouhamed Sow added nine points to the Peacocks’ efforts.
Both teams are set to hit the court again on Sunday. Quinnipiac will take on Merrimack in an away game, and Saint Peter’s will look to bounce back as they face Marist on the road.
