LEWISTON, N.Y. — In a thrilling finish, Iona edged out Niagara with a close 65-63 victory on Friday, thanks to a clutch shot by Adam Njie with only three seconds remaining on the clock.
Dejour Reaves was a standout performer for the Gaels, contributing an impressive 23 points to the team’s total. Reaves made 10 of his 17 shots, including hitting 3 of 8 from three-point range. Njie was another key player, adding 13 points to the scoreboard, successfully connecting on 6 of his 11 shots. His performance was further bolstered by eight assists. In addition, Yaphet Moundi added seven points, shooting 3 of 6 from the field and 1 of 4 from the free-throw line.
On the other side, Josiah Davis was the leading scorer for the Purple Eagles with 18 points. Support came from Jaeden Marshall, who contributed 12 points. Justin Page added to the effort with nine points, while also providing four assists and stealing the ball twice.
Looking ahead, both teams are gearing up for their next matchup on Sunday. Iona is set to face off against Canisius in an away game, while Niagara will host Manhattan at their home court.
