LEWISTON, N.Y. — In a thrilling contest, Dejour Reaves scored 23 points, and Adam Njie secured a narrow victory for Iona with a clutch jumper just three seconds before the final buzzer, edging out Niagara 65-63 on Friday.
Reaves showcased his shooting prowess by making 10 of his 17 field goal attempts, including three successful shots from three-point range, as he led the Gaels, who hold a 13-16 record overall and are 10-8 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Njie’s contribution was significant as well, adding 13 points after shooting 6 of 11 from the floor, along with dishing out eight assists. Yaphet Moundi added to the team’s efforts with seven points, connecting on three of six field goal attempts and going 1 of 4 from the free-throw line.
For the Purple Eagles, Josiah Davis was a standout performer with 18 points. Supporting the team’s efforts, Jaeden Marshall chipped in with 12 points, while Justin Page provided nine points coupled with four assists and two steals.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Sunday. Iona will face off against Canisius in an away matchup, while Niagara is set to host Manhattan on their home court.
