Real Valladolid managed to halt a sequence of six consecutive losses by securing a 1-1 draw against a 10-man Las Palmas in Friday night’s La Liga clash.
The visiting team, Las Palmas, demonstrated their dominance early in the match and netted an opening goal in the 22nd minute. Sandro Ramírez’s attempt found its way past Karl Hein, with a helpful deflection aiding its path.
A pivotal moment occurred just seven minutes later when the dynamics of the game shifted. Las Palmas saw their defender, Scott McKenna from Scotland, receive a direct red card for an infringement on Valladolid’s Anuar Tuhami, who had a clear path to the goal.
With a numerical advantage on the field, Valladolid ramped up their offensive efforts to find an equalizing goal. Despite these efforts, it wasn’t until the 62nd minute that substitute Juanmi Latasa managed to score. He delivered a header from close range that leveled the match.
The draw did little to improve Valladolid’s standings, as they remain at the bottom of La Liga, trailing six points behind Alaves in the second-to-last position.
Reflecting on their current standing, Latasa expressed optimism about the team’s future, saying, “We’ll keep believing until it is mathematically impossible. I wish people could see how we work.”
