CHICAGO — Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, two rising stars in the WNBA, will meet on a larger stage this season as the Chicago Sky host the Indiana Fever. These games have been relocated from Wintrust Arena to the United Center, marking a significant event in women’s basketball.
The Chicago Sky made the announcement on Friday, stating that games featuring Reese and Clark, both considered among the league’s brightest talents, will be held at the United Center. This venue is known as the home of both the NBA’s Chicago Bulls and the NHL’s Blackhawks, boasting a seating capacity of 20,917. This is nearly double the 10,387 seats available at Wintrust Arena. The games in question will be played in Chicago on June 7 and July 27, with the latter game being rescheduled to accommodate the change in venue. Notably, these will be the first WNBA games ever to take place at the United Center.
Additionally, the Sky and the Fever will have three matchups in Indianapolis: one on May 17 during the season’s opening game, followed by contests on August 9 and September 5.
Reese and Clark have had a competitive history, tracing back to their college days when Reese’s LSU team triumphed over Clark’s Iowa in the 2023 national championship game. Both players have continued to draw significant attention to the WNBA, contributing to increased attendance and television ratings.
These upcoming games are highly anticipated events that showcase the growing popularity and excitement around women’s basketball on a grand scale.
