CLEARWATER, Fla. — Bryce Harper is set to rejoin the Philadelphia Phillies lineup on Friday, just two days after being struck on the arm by a pitch.
He’s expected to bat second and resume his regular position at first base for the game against the Boston Red Sox.
Harper sustained a bruise on his right arm from a 92 mph pitch delivered by Blue Jays’ left-hander Richard Lovelady. Phillies Manager Rob Thomson mentioned that Harper was already scheduled for a rest day on Thursday.
The two-time National League MVP is seeking his first hit of the spring season. So far, Harper has gone 0 for 2 with a walk over three plate appearances in Grapefruit League action.
