In Los Angeles on Thursday evening, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones led the charge for UC San Diego with a stellar performance, securing 20 points and seven rebounds to secure a 77-71 victory against Cal State Northridge. This win marks UCSD’s tenth consecutive triumph.
Currently, the Tritons boast a record of 25-4 and remain strong in the Big West Conference with a 15-2 scoreline. Their victory keeps them one step ahead of UC Irvine in the conference rankings, following UC Irvine’s 76-51 win over Cal State Fullerton. Notable contributions for UCSD also came from Nordin Kapic and Hayden Gray, scoring 15 and 13 points respectively.
Despite the loss, Cal State Northridge had impressive performances from Keonte Jones, who notched 20 points, 11 rebounds, and contributed four assists along with two steals. PJ Fuller and Marcus Adams Jr. each added 14 points, with Adams recording two steals as well. This defeat ended the Matadors’ impressive run, having previously secured seven consecutive victories.
Looking ahead, both teams prepare for their next challenges on Saturday. UC San Diego will face Cal State Fullerton at home, while Cal State Northridge will compete against UC Santa Barbara, also on their home court.
