    PORTLAND, Ore. — On Thursday, Max Mackinnon’s impressive performance with 27 points contributed significantly to Portland’s 87-67 victory over Pepperdine.

    Mackinnon wasn’t merely a scoring machine for the Pilots (12-18, 7-10 in the West Coast Conference); he also excelled under the basket, pulling down seven rebounds. Chris Austin provided a strong supporting role, adding 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Austin Rapp made significant contributions to the team’s success, shooting 6 out of 14 from the field, finishing with 13 points while also securing 10 rebounds and blocking three shots.

    Pepperdine (10-20, 4-13) had a standout player in Dovydas Butka, who led the Waves with 18 points and made two steals during the game. Stefan Todorovic also added value with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Boubacar Coulibaly matched him with another 12 points.
