CHENEY, Wash. — In a thrilling finish on Thursday night, Alex Tew scored 16 points and secured the victory for Weber State with a dramatic tip-in just as the buzzer sounded, defeating Eastern Washington 66-64.
The final seconds were filled with tension as Blaise Threatt’s attempt was blocked by Angelo Winkel. However, the Wildcats retained possession when the ball rebounded out of bounds off the Eagles, leaving just 0.4 seconds on the clock. With precision, Threatt delivered an inbounds pass from the baseline over the defense, landing it in the hands of the 6-foot-11 Tew. Challenged by being face-guarded by the 6-foot-8 Winkel, Tew managed to jump and tip in the decisive shot.
Tew’s impressive performance also included three steals, contributing significantly to the Wildcats’ overall record of 11-19 and a 5-11 standing in the Big Sky Conference. Blaise Threatt supported the team with 14 points, shooting 4-of-12 from the field and securing 6-of-8 free throws. He also added five rebounds and seven assists to his strong performance. Meanwhile, Trevor Henning was efficient with 5-of-8 shooting from the field and successfully made 2-of-3 free throws, finishing with 12 points.
Eastern Washington, now at 10-19 and 6-10 in the conference, saw a strong effort from Sebastian Hartmann, who led with 16 points and eight rebounds. Emmett Marquardt contributed 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Nic McClain chipped in with 10 points, six assists, and three steals.
