LAS CRUCES, N.M. — In a close encounter Thursday night, Middle Tennessee celebrated a 71-66 victory over New Mexico State, largely powered by Camryn Weston’s remarkable performance, who racked up 30 points.
Weston was precise with his shooting, nailing 8 of 11 shots, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, and making 10 out of 12 free throws for the Blue Raiders, who now stand at 19-9 overall and 10-5 in Conference USA. Essam Mostafa contributed significantly with a flawless shooting score of 6 for 6, coupled with an impeccable 3 for 3 from the free-throw line, while also pulling down seven rebounds. Justin Bufford supported with eight points, hitting 2 of 4 three-pointers, and added six rebounds alongside three steals.
Christian Cook led the Aggies with a standout 24-point contribution. Peter Filipovity was also significant for New Mexico State, adding 16 points and achieving two steals, while Emmanuel Tshimanga ended the game with eight points.
In terms of conference standings, Middle Tennessee holds the third position, trailing Liberty by one game and Jacksonville State by a half-game.
