In a closely contested battle, Idaho State triumphed over Idaho with a 69-65 win on Thursday night in Moscow, Idaho. Dylan Darling played a crucial role for the Bengals, delivering an impressive performance with 19 points, five assists, and three steals. This victory improves Idaho State’s record to 14-13 overall and 9-7 in the Big Sky Conference.
The Bengals saw notable contributions from Connor Hollenbeck, who chipped in with 15 points. Hollenbeck was effective with his shooting, going 5 for 9 from the field, converting 2 of 5 attempts from three-point land and hitting all three of his free throws. Jake O’Neil also played a significant role by scoring 12 points while grabbing seven rebounds. He shot 5 for 11 overall, including two successful three-point shots from four attempts.
On the other side, the Vandals were led by Jack Payne, who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kolton Mitchell contributed significantly as well, scoring 15 points while dishing out five assists and securing two steals. Additionally, Tyler Mrus added 11 points to Idaho’s total.
Looking ahead, both teams have games scheduled for Saturday. Idaho State is set to face off against Eastern Washington on the road, while Idaho will host Weber State at home.
