In a recent basketball game, Dashon Gittens and Asim Jones showed impressive performances, each contributing 15 points to secure Florida International’s victory over Kennesaw State, with a final score of 76-61.
Gittens managed to make 3 out of 8 shots from the field and successfully converted all nine of his free-throw attempts for the Panthers, who currently hold a 9-19 record overall and are 3-12 in Conference USA. Jones had a strong showing as well, shooting 3 out of 5 from the field and making 8 of 10 free throws.
Adding to the team’s score, Jayden Brewer chipped in 13 points, going 3 for 7 from the field and 7 for 10 from the free-throw line.
Leading the charge for the Owls was Adrian Wooley, who scored 20 points in an admirable effort. Simeon Cottle added another 14 points for Kennesaw State, while Ricardo Wright finished the game with 10 points.
The game saw Florida International take control with just over 13 minutes left in the first half, never looking back after taking the lead. Ashton Williamson played a key role in the first half by scoring nine points, helping the team end the half with a 34-24 advantage.
In the second half, Florida International continued to build on their lead, powered by an impressive 7-0 run that put them up 45-33.
Asim Jones led his team in the second half with a 12-point contribution.
Florida International is set to play against Jacksonville State in their upcoming matchup at home on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kennesaw State will prepare to face Liberty on Sunday.
