PHILADELPHIA — In a close contest on Thursday night, Drexel University narrowly defeated Hampton University with a final score of 53-52. Key performances included Jason Drake leading the Dragons with 15 points, complemented by Yame Butler’s critical free throws with just 23 seconds remaining in the game.
Drake had an efficient shooting night, making 5 of his 9 attempts from the field and converting 4 out of 5 free throws. Supporting him, Cole Hargrove was perfect from the field with 5 out of 5 shots and went 2 for 3 on free throws. Hargrove also contributed significantly on defense, collecting nine rebounds and blocking three shots. Victor Panov added eight points to the Dragons’ total, with a reliable 4 of 7 shooting from the floor.
On the other side, Hampton’s Noah Farrakhan was the standout performer, scoring 18 points to lead the Pirates. Additional help came from Xzavier Long and Etienne Strothers, both contributing six points each. Despite a valiant effort, the Pirates’ five-game winning streak was brought to an end.
