Luster, Stony Brook Triumph Over Hofstra 59-56

    STONY BROOK, N.Y. — CJ Luster II tallied 19 points, including five three-pointers, as Stony Brook clinched a nail-biting 59-56 victory over Hofstra on Thursday night, culminating with Andre Snoddy’s decisive dunk with just 13 seconds left. The win was sealed with Stony Brook finishing on an 8-0 run.

    The Seawolves (7-23, 3-14 Coastal Athletic Association) benefited from Luster’s strong performance who went 7 of 18 from the field. Team member Collin O’Connor contributed significantly with 17 points, succeeding on 6 of his 10 attempts, and nailing 3 out of 4 from three-point range, alongside grabbing five rebounds.

    For the Pride (13-17, 5-12), Jean Aranguren led their efforts with 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. German Plotnikov also made his mark with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, while Cruz Davis chipped in with 11 points, four assists, and two steals.

    The game saw Stony Brook leading 31-26 at halftime, with Luster scoring 13 points in that period. The second half featured O’Connor scoring a team-high of eight points.

    Both teams are set for their next games on Saturday. Stony Brook is scheduled to host Elon, and Hofstra will face North Carolina A&T on their home court.
