LOWELL, Mass. — In a thrilling game, Earl Timberlake scored 17 points, including two decisive free throws with just 0.7 seconds remaining, leading Bryant to a narrow 79-78 victory over UMass-Lowell. This win allowed Bryant, with a record of 18-11 and a conference tally of 12-2, to maintain its position at the top of the America East standings, with only two games left in the season.
Timberlake’s impressive performance extended beyond scoring, as he also contributed nine rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and three blocks, showcasing his all-around skills for the Bulldogs. Supporting Timberlake, Rafael Pinzon contributed 16 points by going 6 for 22 in field goals, including connecting on 3 of 10 three-point attempts. Pinzon also snagged five rebounds and claimed three steals in the effort. Kvonn Cramer provided additional support with 14 points, shooting 6 of 10 from the floor and hitting 2 out of 3 free throws.
The River Hawks, who now have a 16-13 season record with a 5-9 standing in the conference, fought back valiantly. Max Brooks was a standout for UMass-Lowell, scoring 24 points while also securing nine rebounds, along with two steals and three blocks. He was closely followed by Martin Somerville who added 17 points, collected six rebounds, and dished out five assists. Yuri Covington pitched in with 12 points, rounding out their solid performance.
As the conference play continues, both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday. Bryant will travel to face Maine, while UMass-Lowell is scheduled to take on Binghamton at home.
