Woodward Leads Colgate Past Holy Cross 81-73

    HAMILTON, N.Y. — Jeff Woodward’s impressive performance, featuring 14 points and 13 rebounds, was pivotal in leading Colgate to an 81-73 victory over Holy Cross on Wednesday night.

    In addition to his scoring and rebounding efforts, Woodward also displayed his passing skills by contributing five assists for the Raiders, who now stand at 13-17 overall and 10-7 in the Patriot League. Jalen Cox was another strong performer for Colgate, adding 13 points while shooting 5 of 9 from the field and converting 3 of 5 from the free-throw line. His all-around effort included grabbing eight rebounds and making four steals. Chandler Baker chipped in with 11 points, hitting 5 of 10 shots, including 1 of 4 from beyond the arc.

    Holy Cross, also with an overall record of 13-17 but lagging at 5-12 in the league, was spearheaded by Joe Nugent, who scored 21 points. Gabe Warren supported with 18 points, while Jaiden Feroah filled the stat sheet with 11 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

    Colgate made a significant move in the first half with an 11-0 run that gave them a 28-23 lead. Woodward’s contribution of 10 first-half points helped Colgate take a narrow 37-36 advantage into the halftime break. The game remained competitive in the second half, marked by six lead changes, but Nicolas Louis-Jacques’ 10-point effort helped seal the win for Colgate.

    Looking ahead, both teams will be back on the court on Saturday. Colgate is set to host American, while Holy Cross will face Bucknell at home.
