CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — In a dominant show of skill on Wednesday night, Jacob Hutson’s impressive 26-point performance propelled Northern Iowa to a resounding 74-52 victory over UIC.
Hutson was in fine form, hitting 10 of his 14 field-goal attempts, which included an effective 4 out of 7 from three-point territory. Demonstrating his all-around game, he also managed 2 out of 3 free throws for the Panthers, lifting their record to 20-10 overall and 14-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Contributing to Northern Iowa’s success, Tytan Anderson scored 14 points on a 7 of 12 shooting night, while securing eight rebounds. Ben Schwieger also played a significant role, closing the game with 12 points after making 5 of 9 shots, including a three-point attempt.
In response for the Flames (17-13, 9-10), Ahmad Henderson II led with 13 points and managed to grab three steals. Teammate Tyem Freeman added eight points alongside two steals, tying with Jordan Mason who also contributed eight points.
By halftime, Northern Iowa had already established a commanding lead at 41-26, buoyed by Hutson’s first-half effort where he had already amassed 19 points. The Panthers maintained their momentum throughout the game, clinching the victory decisively.
