STATESBORO, Ga. — In a tightly contested matchup, Georgia Southern emerged victorious over Appalachian State with a score of 61-59 on Tuesday night. Nakavieon White played a key role in the Eagles’ win, contributing 17 points to the team’s tally.
With the game nearing its end, Eren Banks secured a critical advantage for Georgia Southern by sinking free throws to extend their lead to 61-55 with just 21 seconds remaining on the clock.
Adding to the Eagles’ performance, White also managed to grab six rebounds. Eugene Brown III was another top performer for Georgia Southern, scoring 13 points while exhibiting remarkable shooting accuracy, going 5 for 7 from the field and 3 for 4 from three-point range.
On the other side, Appalachian State was led by CJ Huntley, who delivered an impressive performance with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Myles Tate also supported the team with 14 points and six rebounds.
Looking ahead, both teams are set to hit the court again on Friday. Georgia Southern will welcome Georgia State to their home, while Appalachian State will face Marshall on the road.
